The well data review library
How to preserve analysis through a transition.
Keeping analysis continuity through an acquisition or source-system change
Prepare the comparison.
- List the periods, properties, and categories required for the next review.
- Identify overlapping history, missing periods, and changes in source structure.
- Agree on who will validate the first comparable operating view.
Inventory the sources
List the analysis periods, properties, records, and source structures that need to remain usable. Identify missing periods and overlapping data before loading history.
Define a comparable analysis structure
Agree on the categories and property mapping used for operating review. Preserve source provenance so normalized views can still be traced.
Resolve overlap deliberately
Where two sources cover the same periods, agree on which records govern the comparison. Review duplicates and differences before accepting a combined view.
Tie out the initial view
Have the people who know the operating and financial record review opening balances, classifications, and the first analysis period.
Build the recurring review
Once the structure is accepted, configure dashboards and analysis views for the team. Keep a record of remaining gaps so they are visible in future comparisons.
A practical review example.
Suppose an acquired portfolio arrives with history from a different analysis source. Start with the periods and properties that need to remain usable. Where history overlaps an existing source, agree on which records govern the comparison before accepting a combined view.
Review property mapping and category structure with the people who know the original record. Tie out the initial analysis period, retain visibility into any gaps, and configure the first recurring view around the accepted scope. A successful file load is a step in the process; the analysis comparison still needs review.
What to carry into the next review.
Relevant systems, periods, properties, and structures.
Category and property rules, overlap decisions, and open gaps.
The person validating the initial period and recurring view.

Apply the guide
Follow the question into the operating record.
Use a consistent period and property scope, keep the supporting detail available, and finish with a question and an owner for the next review.

LOS analysis for your financial review
LOS is where the question starts, not where the investigation ends.

Connecting your well data
The value is the connection between the operating questions.
